From Kanchanaburi & The River Kwai To Phuket Hotels & Thailand Diving

Kanchanaburi is the third largest of Thailand’s 76 provinces. It is 130 km west of Bangkok and borders Burma in Thailand’s North West. The province is not to be confused with Kanchanaburi town, along the river Kwai a gorgeous rural center with a population of 54,000.

Kanchanaburi itself, cut by the stunning river Kwai, encapsulates the exquisite nature and friendly people that give Thailand its charm.   It is a popular destination for hiking and camping excursions with its many natural attractions.

The unique Erawan falls with seven levels of waterfalls set against a rough jungle landscape in Erawan National Park are a must see while in Kanchanaburi. All along the river Kwai the mountains, caves and wildlife make up some of the most captivating natural landscape in Asia.

Often travelers to Bangkok have to decide between trips to Kanchanaburi and to Phuket province, an island in the south with a similarly captivating landscape. That is where the similarity ends though. Phuket hotels and resorts are renowned the world over as is the island’s amicable hospitality and white sandy beaches. This province provides plenty of opportunities for Thailand diving.

If you’re trying to decide between diving off one of Phuket's beaches and a trip up the River Kwai, our advice is…do both!  Both Kanchanaburi and Phuket offer a unique experience.
